Windows

Windows… We always have lived in a house with lots of windows and I seldom  cover them with curtains, unless it’s a bathroom or bedroom.  Even then if there is no need for privacy because no one can see in, I sometimes, forego windows there too.  I just have to be able to look outside and let the sunshine come in.

I always have been fortunate to have a window over my kitchen sink. I put a glass shelf in this one so I could display a few favorite things.  The sun pours in here for awhile in the afternoon.  It’s also a great spot to watch the hummingbirds in the summer.  You can see the red feeder in the picture.

Our sunroom was once a carport so it has windows on three sides.  No need for curtains because we back onto a woods and greenway.  Here are a couple of pictures out the windows in our sunroom.

It is very sunny in the morning so a great place to keep my  ferns over the winter.

A view from our living room, no curtains here either :)

The view from our dining room,  curtainless.  The living room and dining rooms are the only windows where someone going by could see into our house.  We live on a pretty quiet street so  it doesn’t bother me.

Another sunroom window.  I traded  the wicker desk which was here with a cedar chest from our bedroom.  I love the way the sun shines through the glass.  I couldn’t enjoy that if I had some curtains there!

We have 3 doors to the outside in our sunroom.  This is one that looks out over our backyard.

One final view, looking out the big windows at the back of our sunroom out onto the deck and the woods.

How about you?  Do you have curtains on your windows for privacy?  Or are you like me and have to see out?

Rhondi, we like the views out our windows too. No curtains in our house, but we do have shutters when privacy is desired. Love all your fun ceramics in the kitchen window. Thanks for sharing.

Rhondi, I love all your windows and the fact that you let the sun shine in! Your blue glass looks beautiful against the light. I wish I could let my windows uncovered, but unfortunately we live too close to town and need the privacy. Our kitchen window, however, is uncovered, and I love displaying colored glass there, and also being able to see the garden.

Love all your window views! We do have some but the windows are all well exposed except the blinds in the bedroom.

You have some lovely views there Rhondi. If I was in a more rural setting I wouldn’t have my windows covered either, but I am in a city and so we do have curtains. I would love, LOVE to have a window over my kitchen sink to look out of! xxoo

I wish I did not have to put shades/curtains on our windows, but we are too close to neighbors. I do put up sheers so the light can come in more. Love our blue bottles.

This is an easy one for me because I am a no curtain person, too. My mother always had custom made drapes modes for the houses where we lived. When my husband and I bought our first home, I had ordered custom made drapes while the house was being finished so they would be hung when we moved in. I had saved my money, and did the whole house. I even had covered cornice boards made for the living and dining rooms. They were all really gorgeous. But, it wasn’t long before I realized I was a non curtain person.

I knew when we moved here that I didn’t want draperies. I have European lace swagged valances on the majority of our windows. The remaining windows have other types of valances, shutters or nothing at all. Let the light in is my philosophy.

I do have curtains, but they are just decorative and never get closed. This house does have wooden blinds for privacy, that we close in the evening in the bedroom and living room.

You have some pretty views out your window.
