Pottery Barn

What a surprise to see the color on the cover of the new issue of  the Pottery Barn catalogue.

Blue..my favorite color!

I have a theory that blue is God’s favorite color also.   I think I have proof: just look at how much of our world is blue: all the sky and water.  He must really like blue.

The first couple of pages feature blue

pottery barnAfter all these years of earth tones, finally a color that I use all the time.  So I asked myself, why am I so excited about this?  Do I need Pottery Barn to affirm my choices in decorating?  That’s a scary thought.  But I guess on some level I want  to feel like I have some sense of style.  So when the Pottery Barn experts choose blue it means I do?

How silly is that!  My home should reveal who lives here, not be a reflection of the current decorating trends.

So thank you Pottery Barn for making it more enjoyable for me looking at colors I love in your catalogue.  I hope everyone doesn’t start using blue because then my home will look like everyone else’s!

hahhhaaa….I was shocked, too, to see a BLUE POTTERY BARN catalog. They are sooo known for their neutrals that the blues shocked me. i love blue, too….but I decorated with it for YEARS and got burned out on the color. But, now….I am wanting to add touches of blue….I’ve been doing turquoise in my new bedroom and absolutely LOVE it…can’t get enuf and will probably overload it.

I am a blue lover, too, and I am shocked that they actually have color on the cover. I think, like you indicated, that it is more the notion that we can enjoy a magazine that has color and a color we love than it is about being an affirmation. Actually, we are the smart ones to love a world with color in it. That is not to say that neutrals aren’t a good thing, but they certainly aren’t the only thing as the magazines and retailers would have us think. And that has been going on for years. Also not every stick of furniture needs to be painted nor is brass an unnecessary evil. I adore brass, and I love the way it looks when it is old and unpolished. The patina it has. When I see people abuse it, I cringe. Silver is good, too, but I love the warmth of gold.

But blue = a good thing. A very good thing.

Happy New Year!

Don’t be one bit concerned, Rhondi. Your style is all you, and no one could do it better.

Rhondi, we live with lots of blue too. I doubt that will ever change.
I hadn’t seen the catalog. These images are lovely. Indigo is a favorite color.

I love blue too Rhondi. I have always loved the way you have incorporated it into your home. With this house that I have now, I have been adding blue here and there.

I think it just feels good to finally see something that isn’t beige!! I noticed red in the catalog too which is my fave. :)
